Environmental Responsibility

As a business, it’s so important to be aware of the impact that my work is having on the environment. I am and will continue to look at ways I can be even more environmentally responsible + 100% green.

Listed below are some of the actions I’ve taken so far…

POWERED BY 100% GREEN ENERGY

My studio runs on 100% green energy, generated by renewable sources such as solar, wind and hyrdo. The electricity I use is 100% renewable. and the gas is 100% carbon neutral. On average each year using this energy saves 3.5 tonnes of CO2 from entering the atmosphere. That's like planting 1,770 trees!

RECYCLED AND BIODEGRADABLE PACKAGING

I only use recycled, biodegradable or re-useable packaging in all of my goods. This includes what the goods are packaged in and how you receive your parcel in the mail. You won’t find any single use plastic in oya goods. I really encourage you to re-use yours, please check out my blog post here, about how to re-use my mailing sacks.

PLASTIC FREE CHAMPION

If you’ve read my previous blog or you’ve been following my journey for a while now, you’ll know that I received my status as a Plastic Free Champion from Surfers Against Sewage (www.plasticfree.org.uk) You can read more about it here.

RECYCLE, SAVE AND RE-USE MATERIALS

When designing my goods my first point of call is recycled fibres, “waste” materials that are unwanted and would have ended up in landfill and fabrics that are perfectly good for use- but are disregarded by the industry. Using such materials allows me to demonstrate that this industry can be more circular and less wasteful.

REDUCING CARBON FOOTPRINT

Where possible, I source all my materials local to me and in the UK. I walk to my local post office where I hand deliver all the orders, ready for shipment. Working this way reduces my carbon footprint.

NATURAL DYEING AND WASHING

I only use natural dyes and plant based washing detergents. Doing so means that no toxic chemicals are put back into the water cycle. All washed goods are left to dry naturally by mother nature. Any unspoilt water waste produced in my manufacturing is either re-used in the dyeing process or used to water my garden.
